Continue establishing your child’s foundation of proper grammar and exceptional writing with the tools and tips in Language A.

BJU Handwriting 4 - Helps students refine handwriting skills while writing journals, paragraphs, outlines, and hymns. Student lessons center on a Sights of America theme with facts about states.

Your fourth grader will enjoy this fascinating presentation of things that he can observe in the world around him. Abeka The History of Our United States

Present American history to your child in an interesting way through the narrative format of The History of Our United States.From the days of Christopher Columbus to the United States’ involvement in Operation Iraqi Freedom, teach your child about the discoveries, innovations, documents, wars, and people that have played a part in establishing America’s greatness. Charts of states and Presidents plus foundational documents such as the Preamble to the Constitution, the First Amendment, the Gettysburg Address, and more are included in the back of the text for your child to memorize and appreciate for their historical importance.

Fundamentals of Martial Arts

This exclusive homeschool class will include age appropriate martial arts and self defense training for all age groups that will improve: focus, balance, body control, attention to detail, standing reversals, proper striking and all the confidence that comes along with improving ones overall physical fitness and coordination.

The class will be led by Mr. Justin Dunham who is the owner and Chief Instructor of the Jenks Martial Arts Academy in Jenks, OK.
Mr. Dunham is the proud father of two boys, ages 6 and 9 and is a former three time, Team USA member and three time international gold medalist as a representitive of the United Taekwon-Do Alliance. For 12 years he has served as the owner and Chief Instructor of the Jenks Martial Arts Academy and teaches weekly Taekwon-Do, Krav Maga and group self defense classes.

Guitar I

This class will take the younger students from basic sight reading and notes to playing a song. Starting on the 1st string on week one, string 2 on week two....continuing this pattern until week six on the 6th string. Next we will learn chords and progressions leading up to full songs. The primary goal of this class is to teach each student proper playing through proper practice and the joy of music achieved by reaching smaller goals (wins) and ultimately bigger goals (playing a full song).

Be An Animal & Express Yourself

Through role-playing, games, crafts, stories and more, students will discover his or her unique animal personality using the animal temperaments (Lion, Beaver, Dog, Otter,) and they’ll go wild doing it! Whether a born leader like the Lion or someone a little more silly like the Otter, each child will discover his or her unique personality strengths and weaknesses for success at school and home.

Second semester, we will continue to explore other animal behaviors as well as discover each child’s unique voice and healthy ways of self-expression. Whether your child is an animal lover, wallflower, or King of the Hill, he or she will go ape over this class that is designed to bring out the animal in them!

Mixed Media Art

Course Description- In this class, we will cover all the basics and teach you how to lay out a mixed media art piece, step-by-step and item-by-item. You’ll learn about common materials and how each media within the piece works and interacts with the others. We will discuss the different types of acrylic paints, how they work, and how they react when water is added. You will learn which materials work well together and get lots of tips you can use when creating pieces in the future. Even the most inexperienced beginner will develop a new appreciation for the art form and learn skills they can use to start making their own mixed media art.

The LEGO STEM class projects will allow students to work as young scientists and engineers,   investigating and learning to understand the operation of simple (and compound) machines found in everyday life.  Students will develop skills such as creative problem-solving, communication of ideas, creativity, and working within a team.  We will use LEGO to build, to problem-solve, and as a creative means of expression.  Projects will allow the students to use the scientific method through observation, reasoning, prediction, and critical thinking.  But most of all, we will get to play with LEGO together...and have a great time doing it!

Inventors & Engineers

An Engineer’s objective is to produce something new or improve on current devices and services to serve mankind.  An Inventor’s objective is to create a device, method, product, process, or technique that did not previously exist.  We will be both inventors and engineers as we play, create, and learn.  This class will cover inventions and the stories behind them, cultivate a mindset for finding solutions to a variety of problems, and encourage FUN as we build, design, engineer, destroy, and otherwise play with different materials.

Fun Latin

Fun Latin is geared for students in 4th-6th grade and will introduce them to the basics of the Latin language including vocabulary words, conjugation endings, declension endings, derivatives (English words that have Latin roots), and Latin sayings. Students will have lots of opportunities to practice what they are learning in class through games, activities, songs, and chants. This class will lay the foundation for students who would like to continue with a more serious study of Latin and provide exposure to the language from which many of our English words are derived. Homework will consist of workbook pages and vocabulary flash card review.

“I don’t know what to write about!” How often have you heard that one?  Students will be given creative and fun writing prompts to get them started writing.  They’ll learn elements of a short story and will be writing their own short stories quickly. Many stories will be written throughout the year.  This will get them prepared for the next level class, Novel Writing for 7-8 grade.

The class will take a faster approach to the basic skills without sacrificing any of the fundamentals. Although some students may already play the guitar, They will also benefit from (weeks 1 thru 3 ) this crash course and fill in any holes in their current foundational skills. this class will encompass a thorough understanding of playing and how a guitarist mentally approaches, memorizes and efficiently practices music.

Advanced Tumbling

Students will work on all the same equipment as the beginner class, but working harder variations of skills, such as: round offs, bridge kick overs, back walk overs, front walk overs, back handsprings, vaulting techniques, basic bar skills, and more!

For the advanced class students must have some previous gymnastics experience, and must be able to perform cartwheels, handstands, and a bridge. If you’re unsure of where to put your student, start with the beginner class. We can always work harder skills, even in the beginner class. We want to leave the advanced class for students who are all working on the next level of skills.

Exploring Great Artists

In this course we will study 13 of the most famous pieces of art and the artists that created them. Students will then, in turn, create their own pieces of art in the style of each artist studied. There will be lots of room for interpretation- the original pieces are meant to inspire not be copied. This class is for anyone who would like to know more about the person behind the paintings and collect new art techniques to add to a portfolio that will grow throughout the semester.

Spy Kids

Through role-playing, games and good old-fashioned sleuthing students will heighten their power of observation using the five senses, unlock lateral and critical thinking skills, and decipher codes and clues to become a junior spy. First semester focuses on spy “training” and culminates in a good old-fashioned treasure hunt where children earn their spy credentials and secret spy name.

Second semester we delve into spy missions, puzzle solving, and code cracking using all the skills we learned!

Traveling Suitcase

You don’t have to leave home to travel the world. Explore different continents, countries, and cultures as you travel the world without a passport! First semester we “Time Travel” to ancient civilizations. Through our study of archaeology we explore the countries and cultures of Egypt, Israel, Rome, and Greece. Through multimedia presentations, stories, crafts, and role-playing, students may take a stroll down the Nile, visit the mummies of the Pharaohs, “fight” in the gladiator arena, or participate in the first Olympics. Second semester we visit modern day countries such as India, Nigeria, China, and Mexico, and we will explore their cultures, music, dance, art, clothing, and more!

Each semester will end in a class presentation and feast where each family may bring their favorite dish from one of the countries we’ve explored, or perhaps share a family favorite from a new country! *Countries subject to change

Students will learn sewing machine basics and complete projects as skills develop in each class. We will cover garment mending, hemming, zipper placement, different sewing stitches, basic quilting, and much more. Students will select their projects. Class if for beginners, intermediate and advanced sewing students.
