Biblical Studies: Learning how to Study the Bible

This class is designed to help students grow in their understanding of Scripture by learning how to study the Bible, not just read it. Students will explore the structure of the Bible, its historical and cultural background, and key themes that run throughout God’s Word.
Throughout the course, students will learn and practice several methods of Bible study, including observation, interpretation, and application, while also building a foundation in basic theology—who God is, what Scripture teaches, and why it matters for everyday life. We will also place intentional focus on learning how to pray, helping students develop a meaningful and personal prayer life alongside their study of Scripture.
In addition, students will be introduced to a variety of tools and resources that support deeper Bible study, such as study Bibles, concordances, commentaries, maps, and other helpful references, learning how and when to use them effectively.
Students who have taken this class in the past will still find new material, fresh perspectives, and deeper concepts, as the content is designed to grow with the students and encourage continued spiritual and intellectual development. Students will be encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, think critically, and develop confidence in studying the Bible with purpose.
This course is suitable for students in grades 7–12 and is designed to meet them where they are while challenging them to grow in both knowledge and faith.
