HEALTH & FITNESS

Health & Fitness

Students will learn how to workout and stay active. Nutrition and healthy lifestyle will be covered in this class as well.

Improv

This class will be full of fun games and ice breakers in which the plot, characters, and dialogue of the game, scene, or story are made up at the moment. There are sure to be lots of laughs as these games can be quite silly when left up to the kids to decide which direction to go using their own ideas.

THE ARTS

Tissue Paper 

Pop Art

Tissue paper pop-up art is so much fun. We will be learning how to make 3D type pictures with tissue paper as well as learning to make all different kinds of tissue paper flowers.

Paint by NUmbers upgraded

This is not your kindergarten paint by numbers with drops of water workbook. Students will recreate museum paintings onto the canvas from detailed instructions. They will learn techniques and brush strokes used by the masters.

MUSIC

Music thru the decades

Students will examine Rock'nRoll history, chronologically, decade by decade. Classes will examine the evolution of popular music between 1950 and 2000.

Ballroom & Swing

We will again have professional instructors teaching our students classical dances!  These instructors are also so great to offer the students more practice options outside of class days if desired.

FOREIGN STUDIES

Building the 7 wonders

We will teach students facts and details about the 7 ancient wonders of the world. Students will work in groups to imaginatively recreate their chosen wonder.

Culture of cooking

In this course, we will cover the basics of cooking. How to scramble an egg and make an omelet, the difference between chopping, dicing, and mincing, how to make a roux, and much more. We will spend 2-4 weeks on each type of mealtime: breakfast eggs, breakfast pastries, quick lunch, dorm food, quick and easy snacks, dinner, soup, desserts, etc. The students will get hands-on experience with the processes that take place in order to put together these items. They will get to taste what they make, and may even have enough to take home to share!

LIFE SKILLS

Book club

This class will encourage students to read a variety of books at home. Class time will be reserved for fun discussions, games, and special activities related to the reading. A list of books will be sent home each semester.

  • Parents will be expected to purchase the books for the class as needed

adulting 101

This class will focus on all things "adulting": budgets, ironing, balancing checkbooks, changing a tire, etc. The Sky's the Limit with this engaging class.

NOT HAPPY  WITH A CLASS CHOICE?

You can choose one of the below options to volunteer during any class hour. Volunteer choices are subject to approval!

LITTLE ROOTS Helping Hand

Instead of taking a class, we'd love to have your help for one class hour in our Saplings (3 years old), Sprouts (4 years old), or Shrubs (5 years old) classes!  Just list Little Roots Helping Hand in the class hour choice on your enrollment form!

Class Assistant

Oaks can choose one class period to help in a Redbud or Maple class that may need more expertise or helping hands.

Willow friend

Instead of taking a class, we'd love for you to be a Willow Friend!  Our Willows are our special needs students and sometimes they just need a little help in PE class or a friend to hang out with at lunch.  Just list Willow Friend in the class hour choice on your enrollment form!
